Volunteer Warden Scheme - 2006 For the third year running, the Caravan Club has worked with volunteer wardens on the Club sites. The Central Region played a large part in recruiting volunteers for the site at Round Plantation, Mildenhall, Suffolk. All volunteer wardens received training and each spent approximately 2 weeks on the site during the season. Round Plantation had no toilet block and the main duties involved site bookings, greeting members as they arrived, grass cutting and ensuring the service points were maintained. In 2006 the Central Region will once again be taking part by providing volunteer wardens for Round Plantation. This is a pleasant, carefully landscaped forest site, with open pitching areas within the woodlands and quiet walks from the site. In the surrounding countryside is the village of West Stow which dates back to Anglo-Saxon times. Further a field are the towns of Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds with Bressingham Gardens and Duxford Air museum just a short drive away. The use of volunteer wardens enables the Club to keep open sites which would not otherwise be cost effective and would have closed. If you would like to be involved in this scheme or would like further information please write to the Secretary whose address appears in the Members Handbook or via the email address honsec@centralregion.co.uk
